BlindBox Pro: Transformable Structural Packaging for Collectibles
Designed and fabricated BlindBox Pro, a dual-purpose blind box that transitions from protective packaging to display without adhesives.
Engineered an interlocking paper structure with controlled tear features through rapid prototyping to optimize strength, usability, and packaging lifecycle.
Design Overview
BlindBox Pro was designed as a dual-purpose blind box that extends packaging beyond single use, transforming from protective container into a display stand. The primary challenge was developing a paper-based structure that remained rigid and secure during transport while enabling a controlled, intuitive transformation.
The structure was engineered as an adhesive-free interlocking system to maintain rigidity while eliminating secondary fasteners. Controlled tear paths were integrated into the front and side panels to guide the transition from packaging to display without compromising structural integrity.
An internal support platform was incorporated to stabilize the object upright and prevent tipping in display mode. Multiple prototypes informed geometric refinements to balance structural strength, intuitive interaction, and material efficiency.
The final design was fabricated from thick paperboard using laser cutting and pre-creasing to ensure clean edges, repeatability, and reliable assembly.
